Ex Bragui, ex Boston Lines, había sido construido en Stettin, Alemania, en 1925, y fue adquirido en 1928 con el sólo propósito de transportar la nueva munición para el acorazado Almirante Latorre, próximo a ser sometido a una modernización. Desplazaba 850 toneladas y daba 9,5 nudos de andar. La idea original era desguazar o vender al Micalvi sin embargo, se decidió refaccionarlo y destinarlo a la zona de Magallanes, en especial al transporte y comunicaciones con zonas aisladas. Fue dado de baja, convertido en pontón y estacionado en Puerto Williams, en 1961. Ese mismo año fue declarado buque histórico por la Comisión Internacional de Buques Históricos, y en la actualidad sirve de sede al Club de Yates local, constituyendo una de las atracciones de dicho puerto. Para ese entonces mandaba la 1ª división de artillería (ocho piezas Armstrong de 40 libras y dos Withworth de 32), junto al guardiamarina Vicente Zegers. Serrano encabezó una partida de abordaje aprovechando el segundo espolonazo del blindado peruano “Huáscar”, y fue muerto en su cubierta. Éste fue el segundo intento de abordar a dicho buque, después del que le había costado la vida al comandante Arturo Prat. En el anverso de la imagen su grado está erróneamente identificado. En el reverso de la misma se lee la siguiente nota manuscrita: “Ignacio Serrano muerto en la cubierta del “Huáscar” al abordarlo en el combate de éste con la Esmeralda el 21 de mayo del 1879”.
