En esta época no había clases los jueves por la tarde, la que se dedicaba a visitas profesionales, juegos de atletismo o deportes, bajo la supervisión del instructor de la Escuela.La Escuela Naval fue creada en 1818 como Academia de Jóvenes Guardiamarinas, y funcionó con intermitencias durante la primera mitad del siglo XIX. En 1858 reabrió con el llamado Curso de los Héroes, entró en receso en 1876 y fue reabierta en 1881. Desde 1893 ocupó una nueva sede, donde actualmente funciona el Museo Marítimo Nacional, y en 1967 se trasladó a su sede actual. En 1945 pasa a denominarse oficialmente Escuela Naval Arturo Prat.
