Fue construido por ASMAR en Talcahuano y entregado al servicio en enero de 1966, con el fin de entregar asistencia médica y dental a zonas aisladas del sur de Chile, particularmente Chiloé Insular y Continental y Aysén. Su nombre recuerda a Pedro Regalado 2° Videla, cirujano de la goleta cañonera Covadonga, muerto a consecuencia de sus heridas en el Combate Naval de Punta Gruesa del 21 de mayo de 1879. Durante su vida útil esta unidad prestó más de 12.000 atenciones médicas anuales. Fue dada de baja el 22 de diciembre de 1998. Fotografía original de la época.
