Carlos Arnaldo Condell De la Haza (1843-1887) entró a la Escuela Naval en 1858, integrando el llamado Curso de los Héroes, egresó como guardiamarina en 1861 y tomó parte activa en la Guerra contra España. Al estallar la Guerra del Pacífico, siendo Capitán de Corbeta, le fue entregado el mando de la goleta cañonera Covadonga, al mando de la cual pudo vencer a la muy superior fragata blindada peruana Independencia en el Combate de Punta Gruesa del 21 de mayo de 1879. Posteriormente, como Capitán de Fragata, se le dio el mando de la cañonera Magallanes y luego del blindado Huáscar, que comandó durante el resto de las operaciones navales hasta el fin de la guerra naval activa. En la postguerra, siendo ya Capitán de Navío, sus destinos incluyeron el mando del blindado Cochrane, del blindado Blanco Encalada y luego de la Escuadra, el que no pudo asumir por razones de salud. Fue ascendido a Contraalmirante el 17 de agosto de 1887, poco antes de fallecer en Quilpué, el 24 de octubre del mismo año. Pinacoteca de la Comandancia en Jefe de la Armada. Condell De la Haza (1843-1887) era capitán de corbeta y estaba al mando de la goleta cañonera Covadonga cuando enfrentó a la fragata blindada peruana Independencia en el Combate Naval de Punta Gruesa del 21 de mayo de 1879. Tras maniobrar hábilmente, logró hacerla encallar, de manera que el buque peruano se perdió totalmente. Retrato realizado en base a una fotografía de los años de la postguerra del Pacífico. Wooster, óleo de Ladislao Cheney Description An account of the resource Retrato del Contralmirante Charles W. W. Wooster, óleo sobre tela de Ladislao Cheney, s/f, 67 x 82 cms. De nacionalidad estadounidense, Wooster (1790-1849), luchó por su país en la Guerra contra Gran Bretaña de 1812-1814, y en 1818 entró al servicio de Chile, dándosele el mando de la fragata Lautaro, con la cual participó en la campaña inicial de la Primera Escuadra, que culminó en la captura de la fragata española María Isabel. Al asumir el mando de la flota Lord Cochrane se retiró transitoriamente del servicio, al no querer servir al mando de un almirante inglés, reincorporándose en 1822 entre sus servicios posteriores cabe mencionar su participación en la Campaña de Liberación de Chiloé de enero de 1826 al mando del bergantín Aquiles. Llegó al grado de Contralmirante y en 1829 fue separado del servicio, en el contexto de la Guerra Civil de dicho año. En la última etapa de su vida viajó a California, al inicio de la Fiebre del Oro, y falleció en este territorio, q ue había sido recientemente incorporado a los Estados Unidos. Hijo del Vicealmirante Robert W. Simpson, integró una familia de gran tradición naval, y en su hoja de servicios se incluye su participación en la Guerra contra España y la Guerra del Pacífico además, destacó como un gran experto en artillería. De forma paralela desarrolló una importante trayectoria en exploraciones y levantamientos hidrográficos, en especial a las zonas sur y austral: Chiloé, Aysén y Magallanes, y por estas razones su retrato integra dicha Galería.
