Este vapor había naufragado la madrugada del 28 de noviembre de 1955 tras cortar amarras, precisamente en el canal de Tenglo, que separa la isla homónima, frente a Puerto Montt, de tierra firme, quedando semihundido debido a la poca profundidad de ese pasaje. Varias fueron las tentativas para reflotarlo, y la que capta esta imagen tuvo lugar el 15 de diciembre del mismo año, la que resultó ser infructuosa. Finalmente, la nave fue abandonada por la empresa, y años después desguazada, debido a que se había convertido en un obstáculo para la navegación por dicho canal.
