Title A name given to the resource Faenas durante el cambio de emplazamiento de la batería Krupp de 280/40mm de Talcahuano Description An account of the resource Faenas durante el cambio de emplazamiento de la batería Krupp de 280/40mm de Talcahuano, hacia 1937. Estos trabajos fueron los principales de la llamada “gran faena artillera”, realizada entre 1937 y 1941, que consistió en la instalación de nuevas piezas de artillería y el cambio de emplazamiento de otras, para mejorar la defensa costera de Talcahuano. Punto culminante de esta colosal a la vez que poco conocida tarea, fue el traslado de las mencionadas piezas de 280/40mm de su emplazamiento primitivo, en el Fuerte Borgoño, hasta terrenos del Fundo Lorena, en la punta SW de la Península de Tumbes, donde el nuevo emplazamiento recibió el nombre de Batería O’Higgins. Los trabajos preparatorios comenzaron a mediados de 1938 y se requirió de tres veranos para trasladar las dos piezas que constituían dicha batería sobre carros de ferrocarril reforzados, tirados por centenares de efectivos (hasta 800 a la vez) de la Artillería de Costa, y a través de una vía férrea que debía ser desmontada y vuelta a tender en tramos de 150 metros.
