En 1964 el BE Esmeralda efectuó el 10° Crucero de Instrucción zarpando de Valparaíso el 23 de abril de ese año para recalar de regreso el 26 de septiembre. El crucero incluyó visitar Isla de Pascua e Islas Galápagos como también diversos puertos del continente americano: Balboa, San Juan (Puerto Rico), Bermudas, Nueva York, Quebec, Curazao y Balboa nuevamente. Ese año el buque estuvo al mando del Capitán de Navío Pablo Weber Münnich, el Segundo Comandante era el Capitán de Corbeta Francisco Johow y el Jefe de Estudios el Capitán de Corbeta Pedro Romero Julio. En este crucero de instrucción, por segunda vez fue efectuado con cadetes en el último año de estudios de la Escuela Naval y se denominaban Aspirantes en lugar de Guardiamarinas. En la navegación de Bermudas a Nueva York se efectuó una regata internacional entre veleros mayores “Tall Ships”, participando buques escuelas de diferentes países, tales como España, Portugal, Gran Bretaña, Estados Unidos, Argentina, Indonesia, Dinamarca, Alemania, Italia y Canadá. Éste fue un encuentro previamente acordado durante la estadía del buque chileno en Toulon, y se realizó cuando éste realizaba su trayecto entre Civitavecchia, Italia, y Haifa, Israel, intercambiándose los saludos y honores correspondientes en la imagen puede apreciarse la tripulación del buque escuela formada para tal efecto. Además del Jeanne D’Arc estuvo presente su escolta, la fragata Victor Schoelcher. Dicho portahelicópteros estuvo en servicio en la Marina Francesa entre 1964 y 2010. Este encuentro formó parte del 13° Crucero de Instrucción de la Esmeralda. Durante el mismo, que se prolongó entre febrero y agosto, este buque cumplió un itinerario que comprendió recaladas en Rodman, San Juan de Puerto Rico, Barcelona, Toulon, Civitavecchia, Haifa, Estambul, El Pireo, La Valetta, Palma de Mallorca, Puerto España (Isla Trinidad), La Guaira y Cartagena. Dicha histórica fortaleza erigida en 1748 alberga a la Escuela Naval de la Marina finlandesa (Merivoimat, en sueco Marinen) y ha sido declarada patrimonio de la humanidad. En la imagen también se aprecia el submarino Vesikko, construido entre 1931 y 1933, que participó en las guerras de Finlandia del período 1939-1944 y que posteriormente fue preservado como museo. La recalada del buque escuela chileno en Helsinki, que se extendió entre el 29 de mayo y el 1° de junio formó parte de su 14° Crucero de Instrucción.
