El máximo héroe naval chileno, Capitán de Fragata Arturo Prat (1848-1879) había nacido en la Hacienda de San Agustín de Puñual, Ninhue, provincia de Itata, Región de Ñuble, la que fue objeto de una restauración y habilitación como museo a partir de una campaña iniciada en 1976. Durante el Terremoto del 27 de febrero de 2010 este museo y santuario sufrió diversos daños, siendo restaurado y reinaugurado el 2 de agosto de 2012.
