En la imagen, revisando correspondencia. Este buque se había incorporado a la Escuadra Alemana del Asia Oriental (Ostasiengeschwader) del vicealmirante Maximilian Graf von Spee, poco después del comienzo de la Primera Guerra Mundial, y tras la derrota de ésta en la batalla de Malvinas del 8 de diciembre de 1914 frente a una escuadra británica, había buscado refugio en los canales australes chilenos. Su periplo continuó hasta el archipiélago de Juan Fernández, donde este crucero fue sorprendido en Bahía Cumberland, Isla de Más Afuera, por una fuerza británica muy superior, el 14 de marzo de 1915, y tras un corto combate su comandante decidió hundirlo. Tras ello, los sobrevivientes de SMS Dresden fueron llevados por unidades de la Armada de Chile primero a Valparaíso y posteriormente a Isla Quiriquina, donde permanecerían internados el resto de la guerra, en cumplimiento a las leyes de neutralidad. En segundo plano el crucero acorazado O’Higgins. El Riveros había formado parte del llamado Plan Centenario de renovación de la Escuadra, fue construido en los astilleros de J. S. White de Clove, Inglaterra, y comprado por este país al estallar la Primera Guerra Mundial, en 1914. Tomó parte activa en este conflicto con el nombre de HMS Faulknor, y al término del mismo fue readquirido por Chile. Title A name given to the resource Transporte Angamos (3°) abarloado a pontón Santa Lucía, hacia 1950 Description An account of the resource Transporte Angamos (3°), en servicio entre 1946 y 1967, abarloado al pontón Andalucía. Este último era una barca velera construida en Francia en 1899 con el nombre original de Ville de Mulhouse, y adquirida por la naviera Menéndez Behety de Punta Arenas hacia comienzos de 1927 posteriormente, en 1940, fue integrada a la flota de la Compañía Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica, la que la mencionada naviera había contribuido a formar. Durante los años de la Segunda Guerra Mundial realizó un activo tráfico de carbón entre Magallanes y Buenos Aires y tras el conflicto fue vendida a la Armada, la que lo utilizó como pontón. Tras ser dado de baja, fue declarado monumento histórico nacional en 1975, pese a lo cual no se han tomado medidas para restaurarlo, o detener su deterioro. Fotografía original de la época, c. 1950.
