Este destructor construido por Vickers Armstrong Ltd. en Inglaterra fue lanzado al agua el 12 de diciembre de 1958 y entregado a Chile el 16 de febrero de 1962. Fue dado de baja por la institución el 1 de enero de 1995. Su armamento original estaba constituido por 4 montajes de doble propósito de 4”/62, 5 tubos lanzatorpedos de torpedos, 6 ametralladoras de 40/70mm, y dos morteros antisubmarinos Squid posteriormente durante 1964, en la planta de ASMAR de Talcahuano se le instalaron dos lanzadores cuádruples de misiles antiaéreos Seacat y dos grupos de torpedos antisubmarino Mk 32 retirándole 2 de las 6 ametralladoras. Asimismo, durante un proceso de modernización efectuado en Inglaterra entre 1973 y 1976, se le retiraron los torpedos anti superficie incorporándosele un sistema de misiles Exocet superficie-superficie compuesto por 4 lanzadores. Title A name given to the resource Pequeña aldea construida por los ex tripulantes del crucero ligero SMS Dresden de la Marina Imperial alemana en Isla Quiriquina, Talcahuano, durante su internamiento Description An account of the resource Pequeña aldea construida por los ex tripulantes del crucero ligero SMS Dresden de la Marina Imperial alemana (Kaiserliche Marine), en Isla Quiriquina, Talcahuano, durante su internamiento, 1915, vista parcial. Este buque se había incorporado a la Escuadra Alemana del Asia Oriental (Ostasiengeschwader) del vicealmirante Maximilian Graf von Spee, poco después del comienzo de la Primera Guerra Mundial, y tras la derrota de ésta en la batalla de Malvinas del 8 de diciembre de 1914 frente a una escuadra británica, había buscado refugio en los canales australes chilenos. Su periplo continuó hasta el archipiélago de Juan Fernández, donde este crucero fue sorprendido en Bahía Cumberland, Isla de Más Afuera, por una fuerza británica muy superior, el 14 de marzo de 1915, y tras un corto combate su comandante decidió hundirlo. Tras ello, los sobrevivientes de SMS Dresden fueron llevados por unidades de la Armada de Chile primero a Valparaíso y posteriormente a Isla Quiriquina, donde permanecerían internados el resto de la guerra, en cumplimiento a las leyes de neutralidad. Éste era en verdad un remolcador de construcción norteamericana, clase Apache, y similar a los Yelcho y Sargento Aldea, adquiridos en diversos momentos. Fue construido en 1943 con el nombre original de USS ATF 109 Potowatomi, desplazaba 1.506 toneladas, su velocidad máxima era de 15 nudos y su armamento era de un cañón de 3”/50 y 4 ametralladoras de 40/56mm. Fue cedida en comodato por el gobierno estadounidense en virtud del convenio P. A. M. (Pacto de Asistencia Mutua). Izó la bandera el 27 de agosto de 1963 en San Francisco, California. Su carrera sería corta y de final dramático. El 15 de agosto de 1965 el Janequeo naufragó trágicamente en la caleta Lliuco, bahía de San Pedro, al sur de Corral, mientras intentaba auxiliar al patrullero Leucotón, que había encallado en un fondo de arena, el día 2. Al destrozarse contra los roqueríos, la Janequeo se llevó la vida de 51 oficiales y tripulantes, incluyendo al capitán de fragata Claudio Hemmerdiger, el capitán de corbeta Marcelo Léniz, el cabo Leopoldo Odger y el marinero Mario Fuentealba. Este buque era un yate (ex Jason, ex Cynara) construido en Inglaterra en 1913, y reacondicionado en los astilleros Thornycroft de Southampton cuando fue adquirido como buque hidrográfico por Chile. Fue el primer buque especialmente adquirido para esta función con que contó la Armada de Chile. Arribó a Chile el 5 de mayo de 1940 y sirvió en su función original hasta 1953, cuando fue destinado a buque ténder de la Escuela Naval y Escuela de Grumetes. Fue dado de baja y enajenado en 1958.
