Title A name given to the resource Descarga de la lancha torpedera Quidora (3ª) en Talcahuano desde el buque mercante alemán Stuttgart Description An account of the resource Descarga de la lancha torpedera Quidora (3ª) en Talcahuano desde el buque mercante alemán Stuttgart, 11 de mayo de 1966. La Quidora formaba parte de una clase de cuatro lanchas torpederas, siendo sus gemelas la Guacolda, la Tegualda y la Fresia, construidas en los astilleros de la Empresa Nacional Bazán en Cádiz, España, en base a un diseño de la firma alemana Lürssen. El contrato por estas unidades fue firmado en 1962 y la Quidora (PTF-82) fue entregada el 28 de marzo de 1966, siendo embarcada a bordo del mercante alemán Stuttgart. Tras su entrega en servicio esta unidad, junto a sus gemelas, integraron la Flotilla de Torpederas, creada en 1967 con base en Puerto Williams, tocándoles una importante labor de resguardo de la soberanía nacional, especialmente en momentos de tensión con Argentina, como durante la crisis del Canal Beagle de 1978. En 1997 dicha flotilla fue disuelta y sus componentes pasaron a ser lanchas de servicios generales (LSG), retirándoseles sus tubos lanzatorpedos. Astilleros Vickers de Barrow-in-Furnesss, Inglaterra, 1902. La artillería principal de este buque constaba de 4 piezas de 10 pulgadas (254mm) dispuestas en dos torres dobles, a proa y a popa. Este buque, junto a su gemelo, el Constitución, fueron encargados durante el período de tensiones con Argentina de principios del siglo XX. El Constitución fue construido en los astilleros Armstrong de Elswick, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Tras la distensión de los Pactos de Mayo, y su compromiso de limitación de armamentos, ambos acorazados fueron vendidos Gran Bretaña, siendo el Constitución rebautizado HMS Swiftsure y el Libertad HMS Triumph. Esta clase de buques de la Marina británica (Royal Navy) estaba constituida por dos unidades, el HMS York y el HMS Exeter, entrados en servicio en 1930 y 1931, respectivamente. Ambos tomaron parte activa en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, siendo el HMS York dañado en Creta en 1941, por la Marina italiana, más allá de toda posibilidad de reparación. Su gemelo el HMS Exeter estuvo en aguas chilenas en la época inmediatamente anterior a la Guerra, y estallada ésta, participó en la Batalla del Río de la Plata, en 1939. Fue hundido por la Marina japonesa en la Segunda Batalla del Mar de Java, en 1942. Esta unidad fue construida junto a otras tres unidades similares en España en astilleros Empresa Nacional de Construcciones Navales Militares S.A Bazán de Cádiz como lancha torpedera bajo el diseño Lürssen de la Clase Jaguar. El 12 de noviembre de 1963 se puso la quilla a la Guacolda y Fresia. Lanzada al agua el 25 de agosto de 1964 se entrega a Chile el 30 de julio de 1965 en España. Salió de Cádiz a bordo del mercante alemán "Stuttgart" el 25 de agosto de 1964, recalando a Chile el 21 de septiembre. Durante su vida como torpedera fue destinada al Distrito Naval Beagle. Su primer comandante fue el Tte.1º Jorge Martínez Busch. A contar el 26 de diciembre de 1997 pasa a desempeñarse como Lancha de Servicio General sirviendo en la zona norte del país. Desplazaba 134 toneladas y su armamento original consistía en 4 tubos lanza torpedos de 21”, dos ametralladoras simples Bofors de 40mm y dos ameralladoras de .50”.
