En esta imagen aparecen tanto médicos como auxiliares, y es de notar una cierta heterogeneidad en los uniformes, propia de las primeras fases de este conflicto, como las casacas o levitas de diverso corte, de abotonadura simple o doble, y las prendas cubrecabeza, sobresaliendo las gorras distintivas del Servicio Sanitario chileno, blancas con una cruz roja en el frente y dos bandas rojas a los costados. Asimismo, son de notar los brazaletes con el mismo símbolo, y la blusa blanca con una gran cruz en el pecho, que luce quien es probablemente un angarillero. Se puede identificar al doctor Teodosio Martínez Ramos sentado, con brazalete y casco de tipo colonial de corcho o cucalón los oficiales de quepis a la izquierda no pertenecen al Servicio Sanitario. Incorporado a la Marina tras la Guerra Civil de 1891, dio origen a una estirpe de almirantes y tuvo destacadas actuaciones, como el resguardo de la neutralidad nacional a comienzos de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Recibió numerosas comisiones para realizar levantamientos hidrográficos, en especial en los archipiélagos de Chiloé, Chonos y Guaitecas, entre 1909 y 1910.
