En la imagen, sus restos son conducidos a la Cripta del Monumento a la Marina. Entre quienes sostienen el ataúd se halla el Comandante en Jefe de la Armada, Vicealmirante Olegario Reyes del Río. Arturo Wilson Navarrete (1851-1936) era guardiamarina de dotación de la Corbeta Esmeralda para el Combate Naval de Iquique del 21 de mayo de 1879. Sobrevivió al enfrentamiento, fue hecho prisionero, posteriormente canjeado, y prosiguió su servicio en la Armada durante el resto de la Guerra y el período de postguerra. Title A name given to the resource Contralmirante Galvarino Riveros Cárdenas Description An account of the resource Retrato del Contralmirante Galvarino Riveros Cárdenas (1829-1892). Egresó como guardiamarina en 1848 y, tras varios destinos, fue ascendido a Capitán de Fragata en 1865. Al comenzar la guerra del Pacífico era Capitán de Navío, y destacó por su actuación tras ser nombrado comodoro de la Escuadra en agosto de 1879 mandando también una de las divisiones en que ésta se organizó, poco antes de la Batalla Naval de Angamos del 8 de octubre de ese año. Enarbolando su insignia en el blindado Blanco Encalada, tomó parte en esta acción, en la que se capturó el blindado peruano Huáscar.
